How to make nail polish last longer?

i have been using Sally Hensen clear coat after I go to the salon for my nails... and it is great... never have an issue. I have also learned that when getting my nails done, to bring my polish. Salons have a terrible habit of "watering down" the polish there with nail polish remover of all things... which messes up the chemical composition of the polish...
