Can Quarter Pound Jazz and Precision pickups be together on one b?

I have a b from Ibanez that uses PJ pickups together and i'm wondering if the two pickups will work well together. it has a rear and front pickup knobs for the p and j pickups and one tone knob. when opening up the volume knob of the two at the same time, will it have a nice balanced sound? i never got a chance to hear them together since most of the guitar shops with bes only have either a p or j pickup, not both.
